In the throes of post-submission euphoria an early client exclaimed, “This is the greatest grant of all time.”
Reader, the project was funded and we’ve been GGOAT-ing ever since.

Funder shoutout! It’s too soon to make any announcements, but we are pleased to hear from several clients that they will be awarded CreARTE grants from the @perezfamilyfoundation whose philanthropy supports South Florida’s art, culture and community development sectors. In the Foundation’s words, “The theme of scaling impact became the driving force behind many of the family’s charitable investments. Through hundreds of site visits and meetings, the family and advisors got to intimately understand the organizations working to serve residents and make Greater Miami a better place to live.” Thank you to the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation for rolling up your sleeves, getting out into the community, and supporting projects that make Miami a city where creative life is celebrated and communities grow stronger together.

Client shoutout!! @salmon_creek_arts is offering a skill share session geared towards land-caring. So much of our work with clients involves skill sharing so that arts, culture and community-based orgs can tend their development gardens and get their work done. We are excited to see SCA paying it forward on their gorgeous historic commune. 🌳 🌲 🌼 🌈 Land Project Convening, Dreaming & Skillshare: a 4 week workshop from Mon, Jan 26 to Fri, Feb 20, 2026 (link in SCA bio: 🪓Workshops)
🌾
For folks anywhere on the path to setting down the roots of a land project – from modest homestead to ambitious commune. We have learned so much from our experiences here since 2014 and from the original communards who established the commune in 1971. Over the years we have heard from many of you who are dreaming & plotting to live closer to the land in some way. It seems to be a ripe moment to re-examine this impulse and provide the space for those on their way to come together to share our stories & skills. As artists we are interested in imagining other ways of living, from the practicalities of daily survival to the aesthetics of our environments, from the philosophies that guide us, to the cultural nature of our seasonal chores, routines, & rituals.
🌾
Participants will offer presentations of their own land projects, future plans, or dreams. We’ll create a plan for the month based on workshops, field trips, & reading discussions proposed by each participant.

“It was a leap of faith into the unknown world of un-programmed living, a crucial step in breaking away from a bondage so familiar we didn’t even know there was another way. (Sometimes the only way to begin something new is to stop what you’re doing. Just stop – without knowing what comes next.) …Now that I’m here I can say with conviction that I know of no way of preparing to live on earth short of jumping in and doing it, and doing it as simply as possible.”

A heartfelt shoutout to all of our clients and friends in Miami…Cultural infrastructure is in jeopardy all over the country. In Miami-Dade County, the mayor’s proposed budget would eliminate much of the arts funding and infrastructure that has kept that sector stable and able to grow for the past 25+ years. The artists and organizations that we’ve worked with and admired for decades are organizing in a purpose-driven, supportive and functional way and it’s working. The mayor has walked back her position due to their advocacy–organized and coherent messaging, consistent outreach from arts workers at all levels to elected officials, and showing up at public meetings.
